Fraud - We are Suspicious and we can Save You Money
It is too easy to Fall in Love with a Beautiful
Young Filipina.
Trust: We are going to say this over and over again. Trust no one here! As far as I know all third world countries are full of fraud. This one is right up there at the top of my list. Before you trust anyone here make them earn your trust. Don't start out trusting anyone, not even your new found Filipina sweetheart. This is an interesting paradox for us as we try to sell you services. All I can tell you is this, I can send you copies of my Philippine drivers license and my passport. Any funds you pay us can be directly deposited in an account bearing my name and my wife's name. We own a our home in a sub-division on Mactan Island in the city of Lapu-Lapu, just across the strait from Cebu City. We utilize a prestigious law firm that used to be my wife's employer and we will gladly give you their contact information. When you hire us as an advisor we give you the methods to determine if money requests are real and if the amount requested is inline with real costs here in the Philippines.
Internet Cafes: Many girls make a good living working foreigners for money from the comfort of their local internet cafe. There are many dating sites and this is probably how you will make first contact, unless you're ready for a vacation here. I have an ad for a dating site, Cebuanagirls.com on this site. Many of these girls do not have pictures yet. I want to give you my opinion of why they don't have pictures. Many are probably just starting their search for a foreigner and don't have pictures available yet. It could be a very good sign. Internet cafe time is cheap here and many of the girls don't have the very few pesos it costs per hour in a cafe. It only costs like ten cents for a girl to run into a cafe to get her email. It's only like thirty to fifty cents for an hour of time and many don't have that much. Most learn how to be computer literate in a cafe, and not in school, so for her to even capture her own picture with a webcam and upload it to a dating site can be a difficult task. The lack of a picture is no indication of their beauty. Need another opinion, visit http://www.melindaspenpals.com/dating/filipina-chatroom.htm I don't know these people but I like what they say. You can also check out a Philippine government forum at http://www.gov.ph/forum/thread.asp?rootID=35802&catID=9 . We all want to believe that she is just too good, she is a dream. You really can find your dream girl here, if you look in the right places and take your time.
How Did You find Her? If you found her on a dating site and she is willing to get naked quickly for you what do you think? You think it is because she has fallen madly in love with you? How much are you sending her? I've heard there are sites that employ these girls sharing the proceeds with the girl. They call it 'camming'. Then there are the other girls who are on every dating site they can find, and they've been on these sites for a few years. Do you think they are still looking for Mr. Right? Maybe they are, than again maybe they have many contributors to their welfare. You need to take your time and really find out. Most people can be redeemed but you could find your attempts a very costly proposition. This is the Philippines and most things go slow. Take our advice and go slow in you relationship.
Your Generosity: I hear from people all the time asking about setting up their Filipina or her family in business. Others want to buy her family a house. Would you do this for your girlfriend in your country? Its a pretty heavy price to pay to have a fiancée. If your approach is to buy 'her love' you have a problem as there are millions of young Filipinas waiting for you and not many will reject you. Doesn't mean they will love you but they will love your money. Many of these girls dream of finding a foreigner and they have had the dream since they were very young. The love part may be somewhere down the list if it even exists. Don't rush into anything and get to know her. Don't be afraid to lose her. It is her dream to find a foreigner to lift her out of a life of poverty. You need to keep this in mind and you need to visit her here. I would suggest coming here more than once before you make a life long commitment. Take your time and work your new relationship just like you would in your country.
Does She Have Her Own Computer and a DSL Connection? This always makes me suspicious as a PC and home internet connection are luxury items that most cannot afford. Last data I had showed that there were more laptop computers sold in one day in the US than the total number of laptops sold in the Philippines in a year. Check out our page on Demographics to understand the buying power of most Filipinos. In any case if she does have her own computer, ask yourself why and how. Students don't use computers here like in America and forget finding a computer in most schools. Its not part of the society. It is my belief that most Filipinas with computers got them from foreigners and they may now be making a very good living off of foreigners from the comfort of their home. This is not a connected society. There is no money for the technology to be everywhere. The large store chains and stores in the malls tend to be modern. The rest of the society and businesses have been passed up by the personal computer revolution.
The risk: As we said earlier, many of these girls will 'love' you because you are their ticket out of poverty. This presents many problems for you in knowing whether she loves you or not. I know one foreigner who has over the years given money to a Filipina to travel to process her Visa and purchase a plane ticket (she never never did either), bought a Filipina to America on a Fiancée visa only to have her going to meet her Filipino boyfriend who lived in America, and married a Filipina who quickly left him. She also wrecked his car the first time she drove it even though she had both a Philippine and International drivers license. Read our section on driving here for entertainment. Its also great information if you decide to live here. I drive these streets every day.
We offer many services to help prevent you from being 'ripped off'. Lets put it this way; once you have gotten her to your country, she may either disappear very quickly or just continue to use you. Early detection and prevention will save you many dollars.
Early Detection: If you are communicating with a Filipina you have met through one of the many Filipina introduction web sites, there is a very easy way to eliminate 95% of those who are just looking for a way out of the country. Tell her it is your intent to move to the Philippines permanently, even if that is not your true intent. If she is just looking for a ticket out, she will cut short her communications with you promptly, or lead you on getting you to send her money along the way. She may have many people she is 'leading on' for financial gain and 'she' may be married and have kids or 'she' may not be a 'she' at all. The truth of the matter is that many (most) of the girls online are not looking for a partner but just new life somewhere (anywhere) else. This does not mean that if you came here you couldn't be taken to the cleaners, its just that most of these girls would rather go to a place where there is opportunity and a future. Once they are in another country they can work and send money home to the family. Family ties are strong here, and unlike many western countries where our parents help us get started in life, the parents count on their children to help them sustain their lives in this society. Go slow. Others will tell you that if she asks for money, run, don't walk, away from her. I agree totally. The funny thing is that these people all have great needs. If she is into your wallet quickly, I think you will realize (hopefully sooner rather than later) that it is not exactly your love she wants. Do spend as much time as possible communicating with her by the internet and other ways which we discuss in Getting to Know Her. Honesty is a strange thing here and don't think for a moment that her parents are any more trustworthy than she is if you catch her lying. It is my opinion that the poor here seem to think they are entitled to your money.
Is She a She? In the internet cafes you will find 'shemales', a amle who makes himself up to look like a female. He may or may not be gay. Some of the 'shemales' my wife knows always have money. Don't think these people are stupid. Poverty leads people to do anything to survive. I stopped the car one night so my wife could chat with one of the 'shemales' she knew. 'She' was all made up and going to gather 'her' other 'shemale' friends so they could go to the internet cafe and start working. Pretty scary in that your new found 'love' may not even be a female. Gays and lesbians seem to be well tolerated by this mostly Catholic society.
